CCISD's New High School Hosts 'Back to School' Orientation

CORPUS CHRISTI - C.C.I.S.D.'S newest high school held a "Back to School Orientation" for its students today.

Administrators with the "Harold T. Branch Academy" met with students and their parentsand discussed the techonology classes offered at the school and its grading system.

Students there can graduate with a high school diploma and some college credit. We spoke to jackie vela, who wants to be an e-m-t and applied for the school because she feels it will offer her more than the average high school. Vela says "it works very different than a normal high school. you get your college done at the same time than with a regular high school, you graduate. then, you still have to take your basics. here, you would take them at the same time already. you finish a lot quicker."

The school will serve 75 ninth and tenth graders this year. Each year a new class will be added until the program has about 400 9th though 12th grade students.
