CCISD Investigates Bus Driver After Facebook Post

A CCISD bus driver is under investigation for posting a controversial photo on Facebook.

It shows two boys who appear and makes reference to the two of them conspiring to help one of them pass a drug test.

The caption reads, "'Student A' needed help to pass a drug test. 'Student B' to the rescue LOL."

The photo is real, and the students attend King High School.

The posting has provided the first real test for the school district's policy when it comes to employees using or misusing social media.

Spokeswoman Lorette Williams said, "As soon as we were notified of that, we did some investigation, and at this point, the investigation is still ongoing, and disciplinary action will be taken."

CCISD couldn't comment further on the findings or the punishment.

The district's policy on electronic media is pretty clear.

It reads, "Employees will be held to the same professional standards in their public use of electronic media as they are for any other public conduct."

Posting photos of students is not necessarily a violation of policy, but in this case, the caption jokes about students conspiring to help one of them pass a drug test.

Williams says every employee is supposed to know that this type of content should not be shared.

"Each year in September, we have an employee handbook that goes out. And all employees have to sign off that they have received that handbook and acknowledge the policies and procedures in the handbook," she explains.

KRIS 6 News confronted the bus driver about the photo.

She admitted to taking and posting it, saying it was only a bottle of apple juice, and the two students thought it was funny.

She believes it's important to have a good relationship with the kids on her routes, and would much rather be a friend whom they can talk to and seek advice from, instead of simply a driver that tells them to sit down and be quiet.
