Oct. 12 concert to feature three winners of 2013 Van Cliburn Piano Competition
CORPUS CHRISTI - The Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra's 68th season opens Oct. 12 with a "Once in a Lifetime" performance by three winners of the 2013 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.
Gold Medalist Vadym Kholodenko, Crystal Award winner Sean Chen and finalist Fei-Fei Dong will join the CCSO on the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Performing Arts Center stage for the concert.
"The CCSO is likely to be the only symphony in the country to have three winners of the prestigious Cliburn Competition perform in a single evening, truly making this a once in a lifetime experience," said Executive Director Robert Reed. "There is no better way to kick off a season celebrating a decade with Maestro John Giordano, who serves as jury chairman for the competition."
The evening's program is as follows:
• Chopin Piano Concerto No. 2 in F minor, op. 21
• Rachmaninoff Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, op. 43
• Prokofiev Piano Concerto No. 3 in C major, op. 26
