Carroll Looks to Make a Statewide Statement

CORPUS CHRISTI - So far this year the Carroll Boys have been in the state rankings, then out of the state rankings. They've won their district title outright, and earned statewide attention for their high flying slam dunks.
And yet, they still have a ton of doubters. That stigma of not performing in the playoffs still follows them, and the team says that's what is motivating them tonight against San Antonio Jay in their playoff opener.
"Yeah it's motivated us to work hard to get out of the first round and prove everybody wrong but our main goal is to go to state," said Guard Marcus Ellison.
"We have had a chip on our shoulder all year and we just gotta go out play our game and play as hard as we can and if we do that we will come out with a victory," said Guard Damarcus Whittington.
Last year the Tigers shared the district title then were bounced in the first round.
