CORPUS CHRISTI - A car wash will be held from Noon to 6pm Friday to benefit the wife of a longtime local law enforcement officer, who was badly injured in a house fire last month.
Karen Starrs remains at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio.
Her husband, Ken Starrs, is a member of the Kingsville Specialized Crimes and Narcotics Task Force, after previously working for CCPD and Port PD.
The car wash will be held at the Palmer Drug Abuse Program, located at 3104 S. Alameda, just down the road from Incarnate Word Academy.
100 percent of all donations go directly to the family.
In a news release, PDAP Executive Director Wade Fjeld said, "Group members of PDAP consider it an honor to give back to a family that has given so much to our community through their service. As an officer of the law, Mr. Starrs has put his life on the line and should not have to struggle to meet daily needs and mounting medical bills."
