Candidate for Agriculture Commissioner Visits KRIS

CORPUS CHRISTI - Jay Allen Carnes, a Republican candidate for Texas Agriculture Commissioner, made a campaign stop in Corpus Christi today.

The current Mayor of Uvalde also runs a 3,500 acre farm that grows and ships produce all over Texas. Carnes says as the only farmer running for A commissioner, he's the best person qualified for the job.

"I am a farmer, basically... I run a business with my father for a lot of years and my grandfather before that but with all the challenges we have. We have huge opportunities in this state to meet the demands of a growing population for food and fiber," says Carnes.

Carnes hopes to fill the seat currently held by Republican Todd Staples who is campaigning for Lieutenant Governor.
