ARANSAS PASS -- A 14 year old student who battled cancer and is in remission, now faces a new battle, bullies at school. Adriana Medina spent most of her childhood in the hospital receiving chemo treatments for cancer. She says the only friend she ever told about her illness was her best friend, who's now her worst fear.

"My best friend hit me in the arm and she's been hitting me a lot and her friends keep spreading rumors about me," Adriana said.

Lanette Medina, Adriana's mother, says at first she thought bruises on her daugther were signs that her cancer were coming back. However, when Adriana finally broke down and told her mom the marks on her were from school, Medina says something had to be done. She and her partner Sophia Jimenez filed a police report and pressed assault charges against the girl.

The vice principal of the school told her parents that investigation concluded this afternoon and evidence shows that the little girl was bullying her daughter.

Sohpia says that a big concern is that Adriana can't withstand abuse because of her medical history

"In Adriana's case with previously having cancer she has weaker bones than most children do," Sophia said.

She added that kids her in position need to know one thing, "Something to let those kids know hey this doesn't have to happen to me and if it does someone has my back."

Adriana says the bullies attack her all over campus but she's starting to heal and hopes that mercy is shown for what she's been through.

"They should get I.S.S or something because they're hurting me and probably other people," Adriana said.
