CORPUS CHRISTI - 2012 was a pretty good year for former Calallen pitcher Logan Verrett. Not only did he wrap up his first full season of professional baseball, but he also got married to his long time girlfriend.
Verrett, was back in the Coastal Bend Wednesday Night as the Hooks honored him with Mike Adams Professional Pitcher Award.
This past season he went 5-2 with a 2.70 ERA wrapping up the season in Advanced A, making 11 starts with Savannah in the South Atlantic League, and another 6 starts for St. Lucie in the Florida State League.
In a total of 103.1 innings the former Baylor Bear struck out 93 batters, while walking only 13.
He told me that he hopes to start the year with the Mets Double A Affiliate, and then work his way up the ladder.
"Hopefully this can be another good season for me, if I start out in Double A hopefully I can end in Triple A and then have a chance next season to go after breaking into the big leagues but you gotta take it one game at a time but hopefully in the next year for sure I will be in the big league," said Verrett.
