CORPUS CHRISTI - Members of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee met a City Hall this afternoon to address the safety of joggers and cyclists on the roads.
Corpus Christi Police Department Commander John Houston says they are making a number of changes to better investigate hit and run crashes.
The department only had three officers investigating hit and runs, but right now an additional 13 officers are being trained to investigate those types of cases.
Commander Houston says it's about added more resources to track down those who injury somebody and flee the scene.
"When you do have somebody that flees and they suffer severe injury. You know, there's no closure for the family, there's no accountability for that individual that committed a criminal act," Commander Houston says.
In some cases, homicide detectives will also help investigate hit and run crashes.
