Burglary Victim Chases Down Suspect as Items Fly Out Open Trunk

CORPUS CHRISTI - A Stripes store clerk led officers to another citizen who claimed his truck was broken into and he/she was chasing the woman responsible.

The driver of the burglarized truck was chasing a Volkswagen Jetta from Oakgate Drive before dawn today.

Police saw the Jetta zoom past but were able to pull the driver over. Chelsea Breanna Cervantes, 19, is charged with auto burglary and for having credit cards that did not belong to her.

According to police, the store clerk who first flagged down an officer said there were stolen items falling out of the Jetta's trunk as it sped away.

An estimated $5,000 worth of medical equipment was returned to the victim.
