Buc Days Etiquette and Parade Route Changes

CORPUS CHRISTI - Buc Days officially begins Thursday. The beloved illuminated night parade is set for Saturday, May 3rd. Many are already claiming their spots along the parade route.

It's okay to mark your spot, but Corpus Christi police want to remind everyone that even if you do, it doesn't mean it actually belongs to you .

"That does not guarantee your spot. If someone shows up even if you marked it ahead of time that does not mean they are going to have to leave," says CCPD's Kirk Stowers.

Every year officers are called to spots along the parade route where families get in arguments over who can and cannot be at a particular spot. They aren't getting into the business of telling people to move off of a public sidewalk.

If you do mark your spot, don't block pedestrian walk ways, or use ink, paint, or spray paint on the pavement. That will earn you a ticket.

Due to construction there are some changes to be aware of for this weekend's Buc Days Junior Parade. The parade will start on Shoreline Boulevard just north of Mann Street. Then the route takes a left on Taylor Street back around to Shoreline before ending near the American Bank Center.

The parade starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
