CORPUS CHRISTI - Thousands of people gathered at the Water Gardens, which are dyed pink, in honor of breast cancer awareness month.
All of this is part of the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk sponsored by KRIS Communications. Our Jennifer Lira hosted the event. All the money raised helps pay for those services and local programs, for the women and men diagnosed with breast cancer.
The group released butterflies in the air after the walk. One woman said releasing the butterflys and watching them fly away, expressed her freedom from the cancer fight.
The event brought about 13,000 people this morning to participate. Officials tell us the donations from the event raised about $275,000 to fund breast cancer research and support programs.
