CORPUS CHRISTI -- The Corpus Christi Police Department is asking anyone with information on yesterday's stranger danger incident to come forward. As we first told you yesterday, a Cunningham Middle School student as approached by a man in a brown car as he walked home from school.

David Michael Ortiz, 12, says he walks home everyday but has never experienced anything like this.

"It was scary seeing a car roll up and try to take you," David said.

David says he was approached by a strange man as he walked down Hudson Street Monday afternoon.

"He rolled down the window and said "Hey come here." And I turned around and said "what?' and while I turned around I started walking faster and he like in a more angrier, violent voice , he said "come here!" and that's when I knew that's when something was probably going to happen so I just took off running and then that's when he rolled his window up and took off and I never saw him again," David said.

He wants all kids to be aware of their surroundings and never get in the car with strangers.

"I just want to tell the kids, try to watch out for sex offender and suspicious activity and people like that because they can take you like that, real fast. Keep a look out and just take off if that ever happens," David says.

David's mother, Heather Echols-Lopez says she notified Cunningham Middle School of the incident and says David will no longer be walking to and from school.

"I'm not going to give anyone that opportunity to make my kid a statistic," Heather said.

Both she and David just hope that the man driving the car will come forward.

"I want him to just come clean and if he doesn't come clean then I want police to catch him and if he doesn't come clean then I want him behind bars," David said.
