HOUSTON - A woman in Texas charged with felony child abuse against her five year old stepson is speaking out, telling her side of the story.
It's an image that breaks your heart.
But Step-mom Tammie Bleimeyer says she's not responsible.
The pregnant mother of six is charged with felony child endangerment not just because police found this five year old severely underweight.
But because he was allegedly forced to live in a closet under the stairs. Her husband -- he is the boy's biological father, Bradley Bleimeyer -- is facing the same charges.
During an exclusive interview - sitting next to her attorney - she said she wanted to set the record straight.
First - she and her husband aren't living together.
In fact, she claims the father and son live in Alabama, not at her house in Spring.
She doesn't know why he's so skinny.
She said, "I have never seen him look like that and I have never seem him with his shirt off recently."
Last Thursday, they were in town visiting at her home when a fist fight broke out between Bradley and her sixteen year old son.
Police were called, and she claims the teen lied to investigators about abuse.
Her attorney says she's been trying to tell investigators her story.
And today she filed for divorce.
But she is still not convinced her soon to be ex-husband is responsible for the boy's condition.
She said, "I don't know what caused him to look like that I don't know if it is health issues or if it truly is something else, but I don't want to be like everyone else and assume the worse."
