HEBBRONVILLE - A Border Patrol agent was shot this morning during a traffic stop just south of Hebbronville early this morning. The Department of Homeland Security says agents were questioning a driver when he became combative and pulled out a weapon.
Local media reports the agent was shot in the leg before another agent drew his weapon and killed the suspect. Officials say the suspect was driving a stolen car and was wanted for a robbery and carjacking in Waco.
"Our agents put their lives on the line every day and night to protect our borders. This is an example of our dedicated public servants keeping our community and Nation safe from those who would do us harm. We pray for the speedy and full recovery of our agent," said Robert L. Harris, CBP Commander, South Texas.
