CORPUS CHRISTI - We have continuing coverage on the Border Patrol agent who's accused of assaulting his wife in Annaville yesterday, and accused of killing her lover up in Medina County.
Police say 33-year old Adam Garibay allegedly tied up and assaulted his 28-year old wife Denise. After forcing her to give him her lover, Keith Martin's, address he drove to Hondo, Texas.
Martin's family says he had only been with them about a week. Our San Antonio affiliate was able to speak to Martin's father, Bruce Martin, off camera. He told them when Garibay showed up at their home, he heard the first 2 gunshots go off. Then, he saw the second 2 shots go into his sons back as he turned around to go back into the house. Martin died and Garibay fled.
The Medina County Sheriff says Garibay led them on an 18-mile chase that ended in Sabinal. Police say he tried to swallow several pills in hopes of over-dosing. A deputy forced Garibay off the road, tasered him, and he was taken to the hospital.
We're told Adam Garibay is currently in the San Antonio University Hospital. He should be released either later tonight or tomorrow. At that time he will booked in Medina County where he is facing murder charges.
Meanwhile Border Patrol has released a statement saying, "CBP does not tolerate criminal conduct by its personnel on or off duty, and is fully cooperating with the investigations into these allegations."
