CORPUS CHRISTI - A guy fishing in Oso Bay found an unusual catch this morning.
It turned out Dustin Johnson caught a bone while fishing near the Oso Bay turnaround. Johnson says he went out there at around 9am Friday for a nice morning of fishing.
"I caught a couple drum threw them back, caught a couple small reds and threw them back, a sting ray," said Johnson.
So after having a pretty successful day on the water he said it didn't phase his mind when he had something on his line that seemed like another good catch.
"I thought I had something else. When I was reeling it in, my pole bent down and I drug a bone in," said Johnson.
As soon as he realized what he caught he knew something needed to be done.
"The first thing that went through my mind was I need to let somebody know. This is crazy, no one is going to believe me," said Johnson.
So he called police. When they arrived and saw what Johnson had, they called the medical examiner. Johnson says while this is a story he will share with his children one day, it's still unsettling knowing there is the possibility that human remains could be somewhere in those waters.
"It makes me feel weird. I know I won't come fishing here after dark. That's for sure," said Johnson.
Results from the medical examiners office have not yet come in. But officials say if it is a human bone, more tests will have to be done.
