CORPUS CHRISTI - Murder suspect David Alvarez's request to lower his $200,000 bond was denied Friday morning. He will remain in jail charged with killing Aaron Juarez in a Whataburger parking lot.
Family and friends of Aaron Juarez packed the courtroom. For the first time they saw David Alvarez, the man police say killed Juarez on June 1st.
"There are no words. I can't. It's a lot of emotions. I definitely started tearing up and tried holding hands with my parents just trying to stay strong. It's tough seeing him in person," says Aaron's sister Lea Juarez.
The judge postponed Friday's bond reduction hearing, after Alvarez's attorney said he needed more time. Prosecutors pointed out Alvarez had violated the bond conditions for a pending DWI charge.
Alvarez's parents left the courthouse without comment.
"There is another side to the story that is going to come out in court," says Scott Ellison, Alvarez's defense attorney.
Following Friday's hearing Juarez's parents and sister picked up his keys and wallet from the police station.
"It doesn't bring him back but I am just trying to gather everything I can that was once his," says Fabian Juarez.
Still filled with mixed emotions of anger, sadness, and confusion; Aaron's father say the family takes each day one step at a time.
"I don't see how we are going to heal. It's just the next step. It's just something my family will have to learn to live with," say Fabian Juarez.
