CORPUS CHRISTI - Officials evacuated the MHMR facility on S. Brownlee Boulevard this afternoon when a man walked into the building and said he had a bomb.
The Executive Director of MHMR tells us an employee immediately pulled the fire alarm to alert everyone to evacuate. The man set the package down and started to leave the building, but police detained him before he got off the property.
The bomb squad checked out the backpack he had with him and didn't appear to concerned about it. The street in front of the building was closed off for some time.
The Executive Director of MHMR told us her staff went door to door in the area letting everyone know what was going on so they wouldn't panic when they saw police in the area.
MHMR conducts bomb drills at least twice a year and is well prepared for these events.
Police say the suspect can face a charge for making a terroristic threat. He's been released.
