NUECES COUNTY - The body found near Banquete Tuesday afternoon has been identified as 20-year-old Jorge Hilario Marine Manriquez of Mexico.
Nueces Co. Sheriff's investigators were able to identify him after they found a cell phone in his possession.
They contacted family members who confirmed his identity.
The family told investigators that Manriquez was headed to Houston from Mexico to see family, but never arrived.
Around 4:30pm Tuesday, Manriquez's body was found by a passerby on the side of County Road 83 just South of Highway 44.
We're told there were no visible injuries on him, however, his death will continue to be investigated as a homicide pending the outcome of an autopsy by the Nueces County medical examiner.
