CORPUS CHRISTI - Since moving on from the Javelina football program six years ago, Redford Borel has been a busy man.

His three plus seasons with the Hammerheads are just a small part that in-between time. He's a hard working player that doesn't worry about stats. Borel was surprised to learn he's the Hammerheads' individual scoring leader this year with 10 touchdowns.

"That's news to me because I didn't know I was leading the team in anything. I kind of don't pay attention to the stats. I just play the game as it comes, so it's a surprise to me also," Borel said.

Borel is a busy man. In addition to a 14-game season and the practices that come with it, Borel works full-time as much as 15-hours a day in the oil fields; 200 game checks don't quite make his ends meet.

"Every Sunday I'm beat up from the top to the bottom. But that's something you have to do and in my mind I'm like, "Hey, you've got to do it." So, I have to do it," Borel said.

"Your personal life outside the field is your life and that's what you do. You make your living that way. But this right here is a dream and you never want to regret your dream. He has an opportunity to play this thing and he's good. He puts in a lot of good work both ways, on the field and off the field," receiver Johnny Anderson said.

In addition, his two young daughters take up the rest of his time.

"Most of the time, the two girls are here with me and that pushes me a lot to go. They enjoy it, so it kind of keeps me going. Every last bit of energy. It takes all your energy. You just have to find it within to bring it out," Borel said.
