BISHOP - A billing error in Bishop is being ironed out.
Town leaders blame a rogue meter reader for overcharging or undercharging property owners for months.
The biggest concern in Bishop this week is how to play catch up, because over the period of inaccurate readings, lots of water wasn't paid for.
Those neighbors are now asked to pay a minimum this month, and a little extra in 90 days.
Overbilled resident Charles Petri says, "That money's gone. I've already paid it out, even though I didn't use the water,"
Petri was overbilled for months.
Customers like him will see a bill for as low as $22 for their water, but there will be additional fees for sewage and other services.
Petri says he checked his own meter when he found out about the error, and he'll probably be billed zero usage for a while.
At tonight's meeting, the city council discussed the future billing strategy and also switching meter reader's routes every month for oversight.
