BEEVILLE - Thousands of people in Western Beeville finally have clean drinking water. It comes just months after the TCEQ found their water had high level of arsenic. Some residents living in the affected area said it was out of their control, so they took precautions and avoided consuming the water.

"There's nothing really we could do you know just go by what they told us, get some bottled water and drink bottled water," a resident said.

Folks in living in the Blueberry Hill Subdivision have been cautious about drinking their tap water for years. Some said they don't even bother using it for consumption unless it's boiled.

"We just use it for watering our yard and taking care of the baisc stuff," another resident said.

The contaminated water area exceeded the state levels of arsenic being pumped by three of the four ground wells in the subdivision. The state limit is at .010. Blueberry Hills was at 0.0109, 0.0166 and 0.0143 for the first quarter of 2011. Exceeding the maximum contaminate level. However, some homeownerssaid they weren't worried about any side affects of the increased arsenic level.

"I grew up in Blueberry Hill so if something would've happened over the years I think we would've felt it by now," a resident said.

The Blueberry Hills residents can now hook up to the new pump station that is located at the Veterans Memorial Park. The property manager said, the tap water is at an average level of aresenic and safe for consumption. Plus, the subdivision has a 20 year contract with the city of Beevill to buy water from them.

140 connections from the subdivision have already been hooked up to the new pump station. The manager said, they will continue to test the water level frequently to ensure the arsenic amounts do not exceed the state's limit again.
