ARANSAS COUNTY - Most of you at home probably remember Judge William Adams. He's an Aransas County Judge who was caught on tape, beating his teenage daughter with a belt.
Now, he's running for re-election, and there's an online movement to oppose the campaign, and create billboards referencing the beating incident.
The video was posted on YouTube a few years ago, and it was recorded back in 2004.
In the video, Judge Adams is seen beating his then 16 year old daughter Hillary with a belt. He was mad at her for downloading a computer game.
In the video, he tells her, "I'll beat you into submission!".
Now, his own words may be used on billboards to oppose his campaign.
A mock up of what one of the billboards might look like is online. It's just an idea that one supporter of the billboard movement had.
It's an image from the video, and it plays off the judge's own words. It reads, "I WANT TO BEAT YOU into submission!".
Underneath those words is a question that reads, "William Adams for County Judge?".
There have been funds raised for these billboards. An anonymous posting was made on "one wish.com". According to the website, over $2,000 have been raised for billboards.
We tried to directly contact Hillary Adams and Judge Adams today, but neither one of them got back to us.
Some of Hillary Adams' comments about the billboard movement are online.
One comment reads, "I am glad people still care about this disgusting man being allowed in our law system and I wholly support the billboard movement."
Another comment reads, "The only stipulation I request is that the leftovers be used for a donation to stopspanking.org, a foundation by a team of scientists and psychologists who study the effects of violence on children's brains."
