CORPUS CHRISTI - A once-popular fishing and vacation spot is littered with trash and according to beachgoers it now looks like a dump.
Over the last two years,an area of the Packery Channel has become polluted with aluminum cans, plastic bags and other debris. Most believe the beach should be a safe and clean place for families, but this area doesn't seem to fit that criteria.
"People don't care they just throw their trash everywhere. they just don't care. They need trash cans or something out here," said one beach visitor.
We're told they've tried to contact the city to either have a clean-up crew come out or at least have trash cans placed on the beach. So far, no luck.
Just a few years ago, the city approved a $2.5 million plan to spruce up the Packery Channel with parking spaces, restrooms and trash cans.
Residents say none of that ever happened.
