CORPUS CHRISTI - A 9-year-old boy chose to raise money for a local hit-and-run victim rather than go on an annual trip to the World Series.
Jeremiah Bush and his Blue Sox baseball team held a fundraiser for Christian Carrillo. Today, he presented a check for $3,100 to help Christian's mother with the mounting costs associated with her son's injuries.
Jeremiah also gave his lucky $2 bill that he hopes will bring luck to Christian in his recovery. She was understandably overcome with emotion.
Jeremiah explained why he wanted to help. "He survived in a hit and run and most people don't and now I want him to survive," says Jeremiah Bush.
Christian's mother says he could be transferred to a treatment facility in Houston this weekend.
The suspect in the case, Eric Acevedo, is currently out on bond awaiting trial.
