SAN FRANCISCO - Barry Bonds is asking a federal court to toss out his felony obstruction of conviction.

His lawyers and federal prosecutors are scheduled to argue the issue Wednesday before a three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeal in San Francisco.

A jury convicted Major League Baseball's career home run leader in April 2011 of obstruction for giving a rambling answer about being a "celebrity child" to a question about whether his personal trainer ever injected him with anything.

His lawyers argue that the answer was neither misleading nor untrue. Prosecutors argue that Bonds meant to confuse the jury.

The former San Francisco Giant and Pittsburgh Pirate isn't expected to appear and the judges will rule on the case later.
