Bad Driving Lands Woman in Jail for Drug Smuggling

CORPUS CHRISTI - A woman caught with bundles of marijuana in the back of her SUV was busted only because of bad driving, according to the Duval County Sheriff's Office.

Deputy Matt Caffey was sent out to investigate a crash report north of Benavides about 8 o'clock this morning. A driver ran off the road, hit a fence, and then took off.

Caffey got a description of the SUV and when it passed him, he pulled the driver over just outside of San Diego.

When he searched the vehicle he found 5 bundles of marijuana hidden inside 3 pieces of luggage. It added up to about 60-pounds of pot with an estimated street value of $12,000.

Mary Clarissa Infante of Hebbronville was taken into custody on charges of possession of marijuana and leaving the scene of an accident.
