CORPUS CHRISTI - The one year old child pulled from a backyard pool has died from her injuries. The Medical Examiner says Ava Maxine Garza died yesterday as a result of injuries to her brain.
Last week, the toddler's mother told police she went to the bathroom and came out to find her daughter missing.
The little girl was found several minutes later floating in the pool outside the home on Lost Creek Drive.
Medics rushed Ava to Driscoll Children's Hospital. Investigators at the scene said it was a terrible accident that the girl got out of the home.
The family says they're grateful for the support from the community during this trying time and are asking for privacy.
