Baby Boy Born Christmas Day at Local Hospital

CORPUS CHRISTI - A local family received an extra special Christmas present this year--a newborn son.

"I was really surprised," said his father, Michael Flores. "Either way, it would've been a good Christmas gift."

Gabriel Michael Flores was born on Christmas at Bay Area Medical Centeer, but it's not just his birthdate that amazes his mother, Adrianna.

"Actually he's really a miracle for us because I wasn't supposed to be able to have kids," Flores said.

Gabriel's parents said he was a big surprise for the family, including his half-brother.

And even though he's only two days old, Gabriel's arrival has already been quite the journey.

In 2008, Adrianna was in a serious car accident on her way home from a trip with friends to San Antonio.

"I broke my hip, my pelvis, and my femur on my right side."

That's why Flores was scheduled to have a C-section, but after the date changed several times, the family's doctor finally settled on Christmas morning.

The family agreed that Gabriel was their favorite Christmas present of all this year.

And looking ahead, it seems they have the issue of Christmas presents, birthday presents or both already settled.

"I'm sure he'll be a lucky baby and get double."
