Autopsy Pending for 21-Year-Old Found Dead in Burning Apartment

CORPUS CHRISTI - Police have identified 21-year-old Michael Andrew Martinez as the man found dead in a burning apartment on 7th Street Wednesday morning.

Firefighters made the grisly discovery around 7 a.m. after they put the small fire out. The medical examiner says it's possible the fire was set to cover up the death.

Several neighbors say they heard what sounded like gunshots before the fire. Police are treating Martinez's death as suspicious pending autopsy results.
