CORPUS CHRISTI - A federal jury in Corpus Christi has found Austin lawyer Marc Rosenthal guilty on all counts in his racketeering trial. Rosenthal will remain in custody until his sentencing date in June.
Rosenthal was convicted of bribing former state District Judge Abel Limas, who failed to advance beyond the primary in his 2008 re-election bid. Rosenthal allegedly sought favorable rulings from Limas before the jurist left the bench at the end of 2008 and also offered Limas a job.
Limas has already pleaded guilty to racketeering and awaits sentencing.
On a related note, the U.S. Coast Guard is working with authorities on South Padre Island in the search for the only other attorney to face trial so far in the case. Former attorney Ray Marchan reportedly jumped off the Queen Isabella Bridge early this morning.
Last year, Marchan plead guilty in his federal racketeering trial also linked to Judge Able Limas. Marchan was supposed to report to federal authorities to begin serving his three and a half year prison sentence.
Television station KGBT reports Marchan took a cab to the highest point of the bridge where he faked an illness so the cabbie would drop him off.
Local media in the Rio Grande Valley says authorities found a body late this afternoon in the search area, but there's no confirmation on the identity.
