SAN ANTONIO (AP) - A contractor at a San Antonio Army post has pleaded guilty to soliciting the murder of her estranged husband.
A Justice Department statement says Martha Perry Evanoff faces up to 20 years in federal prison after entering her plea in federal court in San Antonio on Thursday.
Court documents show Evanoff's husband was in the middle of divorce proceedings when she asked three Fort Sam Houston co-workers to kill her husband. The three informed Fort Sam Houston officials, who alerted the FBI. An undercover agent met with Evanoff to arrange the hit on July 21, and Evanoff was arrested. The husband was unharmed.
U.S. District Judge Xavier Rodriguez ordered that Evanoff remain in custody pending a Jan. 30 sentencing.
