MANILA -- Around 50 activists from Amnesty International Philippines walked to the Chinese consulate in Manila this morning, calling on Beijing to sign an arms treaty at a U.N. conference to be held next week.
Donning masks depicting the newly-installed Chinese President Xi Jinping, the demonstrators danced and chanted "arms trade treaty now!"
The activists want superpowers including the United States and China to sign an international arms trade treaty and complete negotiations that will limit the international transfer of arms being used to commit human rights violations and war crimes.
