Arlington Officer Charged in Alleged Steroids Ring

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - A North Texas officer has been accused of using a police computer to help an alleged anabolic steroids dealer avoid capture and sell drugs to other officers.

Federal prosecutors on Wednesday announced Arlington police Officer Thomas Kantzos is charged with exceeding authorized access to a protected computer.

Kantzos, who's been an Arlington officer since 1995, was arrested Tuesday - the same day another officer fatally shot himself. Investigators say Officer David Vo was arrested last weekend in the case but released pending formal charges.

The complaint says a man accused of distributing steroids was arrested in January and became a federal witness. Kantzos allegedly helped officers buy steroids and used a police computer to provide investigation details to the witness.

No information was immediately available on an attorney for Kantzos.
