CORPUS CHRISTI - An anti-bullying rally was held today in front of Cunningham Middle School in honor of Alyssa Gonzalez.
Gonzalez is the girl who was attacked on school property last week. Students filmed the attack and posted the video on Facebook.
The attacker has been identified and suspended, but th Gonzalez family says they plan on making an example out of this case.
So today family and friends stood in front of Cunningham Middle School holding signs and wearing t-shirts protesting bullying and supporting Gonzalez.
Her father says he was deeply disturbed when he saw the video. "It's a bad feeling. It doesn't feel good at all. My family's calling me. I hate to see my mom is crying, my grandmas crying, my sister is crying, everybody crying around me. It's kind of hard right now, it's been a rough," said Mike Gonzalez.
The family says bullying is becoming too big of a problem. Now that they are personally experiencing how bullying can affect a child, they say they won't rest until something is done to stop it.
"I don't wish this upon anybody, anybody's family. I mean, it's just something that a child definitely doesn't need to go through," said Gonzalez.
Gonzalez's father says she had been approved for a safety transfer to a different CCISD school. He says she will be back in school later today.
