CORPUS CHRISTI - Lake Corpus Christi, or at least part of the exposed lake bottom, has caught fire for a third time. The lake bed firs caught fire last week. In that incident, the flames spread half a mile wide and stretched for 2 miles, threatening some homes in the area.
Officials blamed dried up brush and dead trees for causing the fire. Firefighters thought the recent rainfall in the area smothered the flames, but a few hotspots apparently flared up again this afternoon.
