CORPUS CHRISTI - Fire investigators and post officials are still assessing the damage after a fire tore through the stonewall post office in Annaville.
Post Office officials spent most of the day sifting through bins of damaged mail.
They'll take that mail to their central location and redistribute the mail that is still okay.
Fire investigators say the cause of the fire was likely electrical, but they are still investigating.
If you have a P.O. Box at that location, you can check your mail at the Five Points location just a few minutes away.
We were there today as one by one, people tried to check their mail only to find their neighborhood post office damaged and burned.
Nancy Miller drove up clutching two receipts for certified mail, important documents she needed to pick up for her husband in the hospital.
She's worried they didn't make it.
"That was one of the things they told me, that it could be burned," Miller says.
And judging from the amount of cars we saw throughout the day, it's clear that a handful of people are feeling just like Miller, trying to find out if their mail was among the damaged and the burned.
You can check the status of your mail by calling 1-800-ASK-USPS or go to any local post office location.
