CORPUS CHRISTI - The American Red Cross launched its official Tornado App putting life-saving information right in the palm of your hands.
The app is free and available today in English and Spanish giving users of iPhones, iPads and Android smartphones and tablets instant access to local and real-time tornado safety information.
It has several features, including a high-pitched siren and "tornado warning!" alert that signals people when a tornado warning has been issued in their area.
Once the storm has passed the app will provide real-time information on where to get supplies and shelter if needed.
Red Cross Spokesperson Laura Howe also said "After a tornado happens, you can press the I'm safe button on the app as well and that's gonna send a message to your facebook friends, to your twitter followers to your e-mail contacts and text messages to your loved ones to let them know that you are safe and out of harms way."
You can find the app in the iTunes App store and Google Play store or by going to redcross.org/mobileapps.
