CORPUS CHRISTI - The American Red Cross and other agencies are uniting to host a Preparedness Day at La Palmera Mall to help the public come up with a game plan to make sure they're ready for the next emergency or disaster.
They will help residents develop their Family Disaster Plans, download Red Cross Preparedness Apps, receive preparedness literature, sign up for ReverseAlert, provide an raffle drawing opportunity to win an American Red Cross Preparedness bag/kit and learn more about preparedness in their community.
There are two methods to enter into the Red Cross Preparedness Kit/bag raffle:
1) The Red Cross encourages the public to download Red Cross preparedness apps and present them to a Red Cross representative at their booth to be placed into a raffle drawing. All Red Cross apps can be downloaded searching "American Red Cross" in either the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.
2) Raffle participates may also fill out or present a paper emergency plan template and present it to a Red Cross representative at the Red Cross booth. The winner of the raffle drawing will be announced after the event at 5pm.
The agencies participating at this event are: 211, American Red Cross, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Corpus Christi Office of Emergency Management, Corpus Christi Fire Department, Corpus Christi Police Department, Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), Nueces County Office of Emergency Management, and the National Weather Service.
The event is open to the public at the Center Court of La Palmera Mall this Saturday, September 28, 2013, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
