American Found Guilty of Japan Murder

TOKYO -- Nineteen-year-old American musician Richard Hinds is now convicted of murdering an Irish exchange student in Tokyo.

Hinds, who is from Memphis, didn't speak as a court found him guilty of strangling 21-year-old Nicola Furlong at a Tokyo hotel.

Authorities accused Hinds and another American, James Blackston of taking Furlong and one of her friends to a hotel after they had passed out in a bar.

The court ruled that Hinds strangled furlong when she regained consciousness to keep her quiet.

The presiding judge called it a "vicious attack."
