CORPUS CHRISTI - Earlier this year a man was caught on video roughing up his young daughter. He has since been indicted for the incident. Today KRIS 6 News has learned that man was arrested just a few weeks ago for hurting his mother.
Police arrested 37-year old Jorge Tamez Jr. for manhandling his mother. Family members say, that wasn't the first time the two have gotten into an argument that turned physical.
In early January, Jorge Tamez was questioned by police after a video aired on KRIS 6 News of him shoving his daughter at the Golden Corral restaurant on SPID. Police say since then he's assualted another family member.
October 25th investigators say Tamez assaulted his mother on her front porch after the two got in an argument. During the fight, Tamez grabbed his mother's wrist causing bruising.
When police showed up his mother, Rosalinda Tamez, told officers, "she has had ongoing problems with her son causing disturbances at her residence after he allegedly uses narcotics." The two live right next door to each other. Tamez's aunt, who wouldn't give us her name, lives just across the street.
She says it's a problem most everyone on their street knows about. I asked her how many times police have showed up at the Tamez's home and she told me, "about... maybe... I say 2... Or 3 times a week. Every other week depending on how things are."
Tamez's Aunt says she tries to keep her distance from that side of the families issues.. But she can still hear it. "The only thing I hear is just the arguments. Or you know... And then when police come they're there you know," said Tamez's Aunt.
While being questioned after the last incident, Tamez's mother told police she was," in fear of her son... because of his alleged narcotic addiction which leads him to acting violently towards her."
Jorge Tamez was released on a $2,500 bond after being arrested for assaulting his mother in late October. He will soon have to go to court in Nueces County for the assault of his daughter back in January.
