ALICE - City Council members meet behind closed doors today to discuss the future of City Manager Ray De Los Santos, Jr. Members will discuss "the evaluation, discipline or dismissal" of De Los Santos, who is now in his sixth year running the city.
But no one wants to talk about the catalyst for calling for a review of De Los Santos job performance.
City council member Frank Hinojosa told KRIS 6 News' Rick Spruill he asked to add the item as part of this Thursday's regular agenda. But he's also asked for meetings on Friday, next Monday and next Tuesday to discuss the same thing.
Now a recall petition is circulating calling for the Hinojosa's ouster.
De los Santos, who makes about $140,000 a year, said he has a solid track record as the city's chief executive over a $28 million annual budget and 250 employees.
The city council will meet tonight at 6 p.m.
