ALICE - An assistant police chief hit by a truck Monday afternoon is recovering from knee surgery at a hospital in Corpus Christi. Alice Police Chief Randy Weems says Albert Martinez may have to undergo additional surgery to repair the damage to his knee.
Weems and Martinez were walking across the street from city hall when a truck made a left turn. The chief was able to get out of the way, but Martinez ended up on the hood of the truck and rolled off.
The driver was ticketed for failing to yield the right of way to a pedestrian.
