KINGSVILLE, Texas - Former Texas A&M-Kingsville linebacker Jeremy Aguilar has been named second team defense to the 2012 Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-Super Region Four squad announced January 8 by the Don Hansen Football Committee.
Aguilar is among the 21 players selected from the Lone Star Conference and is the only Javelina selected in all four squads.
Aguilar received this honor along with being named to the AFCA Division II All America Team and the Beyond College Sports Network 2012 Preseason Division II Football All-America Team. He led the Javelinas on defense last year with 97 total tackles (56 solos and 41 assisted), three quarterback sacks, two interceptions, forced three fumbles while recovering two, and a blocked kick.
For his accomplishments in the 2011 season, Aguilar earned the Lone Star Conference Linebacker of the Year in 2011 while also being named to three All-America teams; Second Team Daktronics, Honorable Mention Don Hansen's Football Gazette and Honorable Mention D2Football.com. He led the Javelinas with 91 tackles last year while making 14.0 tackles for loss, 3.5 quarterback sacks and 11 quarterback hurries.
