HOUSTON - Harris County sheriff's authorities are investigating a shooting spree that left one person dead and four others wounded at an after-hours club that's been the scene of previous violence.
Investigators told the Houston Chronicle they've received conflicting accounts of what led to the shootings before dawn Sunday but it appears to have started with bouncers tossing five people who were in a fight. Authorities say the bouncers may have been the intended targets and the people shot were in the line of fire. About 600 people were in the place and authorities are looking into whether that could have been a fire violation.
The dead man is identified as 21-year-old Timothy Powell. Four others were hospitalized.
Two people were killed in a shooting at the club in 2011.
