CORPUS CHRISTI - An accident caused quite the mess at Airline and S.P.I.D. this evening around 6:30. Police say a green KIA tried to sneak through a yellow light turning red to get onto S.P.I.D. toward North Padre Island. A Mustang on the S.P.I.D. access road t-boned the KIA in the middle of the intersection causing it to flip upside down.
An elderly couple inside the green KIA stayed buckled inside the car until firefighters came to help them out safely. The couple inside the KIA nd driver of the Mustang went to the hospital for minor scrapes and bruises but are expected to be OK. The accident caused a minor backup at the S.P.I.D. and Airline intersection. Police ticketed the driver of the KIA for failure to yield at a stop light.
