CORPUS CHRISTI -- There will be a court hearing today for a lawsuit involving the former Corpus Christi mayor in Judge Hassette's 28th District Court.

According to city attorney Carlos Valdez, a man with the New York based company Community Showcase Banners, tricked former mayor Joe Adame into signing an agreement at a conference in June of 2012.

According to Valdez, David McCarthy asked the mayor to sign a document to accept a community showcase award at the conference.

Valdez said the "so-called award" was a banner sales promotion.
