CORPUS CHRISTI - Families from all over the state came to Corpus Christi to celebrate Father's Day, and one picked the destination for a special reason.
The Third Coast is a special place for the Amador family, because their father used to bring them fishing here every year. Now, it's their turn to bring him.
The Amadors are here this holiday not just to create new memories, but in hopes that they'll bring back some old ones. Sandra Amador said her father's illness makes it hard for him to remember.
"Any parent that has to go through dementia and Parkinson's," she said. "That's the hardest thing to see, in anybody. And I know people that have to take over their grandparents or parents. It's a struggle."
Her husband said it's been a tough journey, but it's taught him a lot about family.
"To be grateful, to be more grateful," said David Amador. "Having the heart, you know, not to turn away, but to get close to them and have them at your side as much as you can."
When it comes to his family, their father had one thing he wanted to share.
"Thanks," he said. "Thanks for everything, they do for me."
The Amador family said to cherish the ones you love today, because you're never promised tomorrow.
