Hundreds of potential jurors at the Nueces County courthouse... were sent home around noon Monday. The
problem was ...there just wasn't enough room for everyone... in the central jury room.
The overflow was due to several judges calling for large jury panels Monday... County Judge Loyd Neal...says this isn't the firt time this has happened... and that's why county commissioners are investing several hundred thousand dollars in a new jury selection system... that will hopefully be up and running in January.
Neal says
"We will be able to do a lot more with technology on jury selection and not have to have this large number of people down here so if our citizens will be just a little patient with us we are working to correct this.">
He says the county will have an idea of exacly how the system will work in the next couple of months.

We were crowded, but not unbearable. No one really complained but a few people who you could tell were willing to do anything to get out of their obligation to our city.
